The Cabaret Welcomes the Harmonious Wail
Sep 28, 2010 at 7:30 pm

Specializing in the style of Django Reinhardt, The Wail is made of mandolin, guitar, bass, and killer female vocals with snare percussion. The Wail consistently receives an excellent response from audience members, and reengagements from presenters. The band has toured throughout the United States and Europe over the past 17 years.

"....the group takes their love of Reinhardt’s Quinette du Hot Club de France and fuses it with their appreciation of other artists such as Tom Waits and The Velvet Underground. The result, interestingly enough, sounds like a blend of Badly Drawn Boy, Edith Piaf and Yann Tiersen’s soundtrack to Amélie."
The Isthmus - TheDailyPage.com

"As a trend setter, Django Reinhardt gave birth to many ‘gypsy jazz’ combos, one of the best being the quartet, Harmonious Wail. . . . The group has stepped off of the edge with no net"

A Night With Jackie Moms Mabley is an evening of zingers about everything from sexuality to racism. This Helen Hayes nominated play for the Charles MacArthur Award for Outstanding New Play is delivered with political correctness and filled with fun and laughter as only Charisma can!

Loretta Mary Aiken, better known as "Moms" endured sexual, racial and political oppression while paving the way for African American women actors like Angela Bassett, Margaret Avery, Diana Rosse, Alfre Woodard, Oprah Winfrey and the genus of Whoopi Goldberg.

Come enjoy an evening of "edu-tainment" delivered by the African American performing artist Charisma Wooten.
